The research of Prof. Kosei Komatsu (AORI), one of the SKED member, was introduced in the educational NHK TV program, "Science Zero -The Kuroshio Current" in January 21, 2018. Because the Kuroshio has been taking the large meander path since July 2017, this program was broadcasted to introduce what it the Kuroshio and the impacts of the Kuroshio. In this program, Prof. Komatsu introduced his researches on the small Kuroshio meanders, which could trigger the upwelling and associated nutrient injections to the sunlit surface layer.
